About Chamber

The Chamber of Economy is an independent, professional, business and interest-based organization, autonomous in its work.
The primary objective of the Chamber is to represent and advocate for the shared interests of its members, and of the Montenegrin economy as a whole. The Chamber promotes economic activities based on a free and open market, entrepreneurial freedom and competition, the autonomy of business entities, and their responsibility for obligations undertaken in legal transactions. The Chamber also encourages balanced economic development.
The Chamber of Economy is an institutional partner of the Government of Montenegro and cooperates with the Parliament of Montenegro, state administration bodies, and local self-government units. It also works with other organizations and institutions in building the economic system, proposing development and current economic policies, and addressing other matters of importance for the economy.
Membership
All business entities, banks, other financial institutions, insurance organizations, and entrepreneurs registered in the Central Registry of Business Entities (CRPS) are members of the Chamber. These entities automatically become members of the Chamber on the day of their registration in the CRPS. By decision of the Chamber’s Board of Directors, non-governmental organizations, associations, and other institutions engaged in activities of economic importance may also become members upon request.
The Chamber performs the following functions:

Formulates, aligns, represents, and protects the common interests of its members before competent state authorities and institutions in shaping the economic system and defining economic policy measures, as well as before the institutions of the European Union;

Analyzes business conditions and opportunities and initiates the adoption of laws and other regulations in the field of economy to improve the business environment;

Provides opinions on regulations important to the economy;
-
Carries out activities aimed at improving the competitiveness of the overall economy;

Contributes to the development of entrepreneurship;

Supports the economy in fulfilling obligations arising from the partnership with the European Union and participates in harmonizing legislation with EU regulations;

Implements EU-funded projects important for economic development;

Provides information and support to the business community in its communication with the North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO);

Promotes economic potential and attracts foreign investment by organizing business forums and trade fair appearances, publishing promotional materials and catalogs, presenting the economy online, and through other promotional activities;

Establishes and strengthens international economic cooperation;
-
Supports members in achieving their business interests abroad;

Encourages research, innovation, and the development of a knowledge-based, innovation-driven economy grounded in modern scientific and technological achievements;

Supports the development of technological infrastructure and the information society;

Promotes ecological awareness within the business community and aligns economic and social interests to ensure the right to a healthy environment;

Participates in the development of an education system aligned with economic needs and in defining practical knowledge standards, while also preparing business education programs in line with the needs of the economy;

Organizes both formal and informal business education, professional development, and training through specialized courses, lectures, seminars, workshops, and other forms of learning;

Establishes codes of good business conduct for its members and issues customary business rules (usages);

Promotes socially responsible business practices;

Supports economic and social dialogue;

Implements projects for the benefit of the economy;

Encourages the development of women’s entrepreneurship;

Assists members in resolving mutual disputes;

Issues certificates, confirmations, and other public documents;
-
Performs other activities in accordance with the law and the Chamber’s Statute.
International Cooperation
The Chamber of Economy cooperates with other chambers of commerce, international chamber associations, and international organizations whose areas of activity align with the goals of the Chamber. It also represents the interests of Montenegro’s business community in international associations and organizations.
